EXCLUSIVE: Interview with BCP Community Liaison Officer, Caroline Green

I met Caroline Green, BCP Community Liasion Officer, at Townsend Community Centre. This centre showcases one way the community is helping pet owners struggling to feed their pets. Dorset Dogs CIC - founded by Nicky Crowe - utilises the location as a drop-off/pick-up point for their Pet Food Bank. Animal owners can use this service free of charge, without a food bank voucher, if they can't afford to feed their pets. Mrs Green tells me the Pet Food Bank is a "spin-off" from their Community Fridge Project. She explains this scheme is the "foundation of all their work at the centre" where residents can collect donated food free of charge.

Mrs Green said: "Our number one focus is environmental... The next step where the food collected would go would be to food waste bins, and then the process would continue.

"We always say our project is an environmental one first of all, but we know it saves people money, so it's two benefits."
