Interview with Lina S, a Bournemouth pet owner

I meet Lina S at the coffee shop where she works in Bournemouth. She tells me about her cat, Max, and how he is a light in her life.

"He's just brought a lot to my life. I just can't even imagine what life would be like without him," she explains.

Lina struggled a lot during the cost-of-living-crisis due to inflation and the expense of renting with a pet. She speaks about how Max is her priority, and how she would be more frugal with her own food, than let her cat go without.

At one point she was struggling to find a place to rent that allowed cats, and so had to leave her cat with her mum for a short while.

She feels that animal lives are very important and personally her cat is like family to her.

"I've always had a big love for pets, and cats in general. I spend more time with my cat than probably any of my any member of my family," she explains.
